Job Summary: Project Plants is currently seeking a full-time equivalent team member with a passion for horticulture and exceptional customer service skills. This position is ideal for individuals who are knowledgeable about plants, comfortable working outdoors, and eager to provide expert advice on gardening. Other duties do include propagation and potting and loading and unloading of stock. Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide expert advice on plants and gardening to customers.
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Handle and move plants and related products.
- Operate a forklift or a willingness to obtain a forklift ticket.
- Serve customers with excellent trade and retail customer service.
- Identify and manage basic pest and disease issues in plants.
- Propagation and potting of plants.
- Utilize and learn Point of Sales (POS) software for transactions.
- Rostered weekend work is a must.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Certificate in Horticulture and genuine interest
- ChemCert spray certificate.
- Availability to work on weekends (Penalty Rates apply).
- Reliability and the ability to communicate to staff and supervisor.
- Willingness to work outdoors and lift/move plants and products.
- Forklift ticket or a commitment to obtaining one.
- Strong customer service skills for both trade and retail customers.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to use/learn POS software.
Desirable:
LR/MR truck license.
Remuneration: Salary will be based on the Nursery Industry Award, with the grade dependent on the candidate's skills and experience. Weekend work attracts higher rates.
