A bit about the role
You will develop, achieve, and maintain a standard of horticulture excellence at Council’s prominent sites including Wilson Botanic Park, Premier Activity Centres, Casey Fields, Community Facilities and other locations throughout Council’s Open Space network as required.
What you’ll deliver
- Assist in the development and maintenance of all garden areas including garden design, hardscape areas, garden preparation and plant selection.
- Perform all general garden and turf maintenance works including weeding, planting, fertilising, watering, mulching, pruning, spraying, raking, and sweeping in accordance with industry best practice, Council policies and procedures.
- Operate a range of mechanical equipment and plant associated with general horticultural operations.
- Provide horticultural advice and information to the team and other Council staff in accordance with professional, technical knowledge and industry best practice.
- Participate in relevant working groups to further progress planning and enhancement of Casey parks and reserves.
What you’ll bring
- A tertiary qualification of AQF level 3 or higher in Parks and Gardens, Horticulture or related discipline, or relevant experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in undertaking horticultural maintenance of premier open spaces, including the use of a broad range of plant and equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in the management and delivery of OHS & Risk Management principles and practices.
- A current AgVet Chemical Users Certificate is desirable,
- A current Australian Driver’s licence with Light Truck endorsement.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check & Functional Assessment (Medical/physio)
- Construction industry white card
