Full Time Role (Mon – Fri)

Based in Narrabundah, ACT

We are currently seeking a full time House Lead for Accommodation & Support Services, working Monday to Friday, to oversee and coordinate various programs within a facility. This role primarily involves direct support work with participants, alongside some allocated administrative time to fulfil responsibilities. The role focuses on shaping programs to provide essential support and foster inclusivity, with opportunities for professional growth and community impact. The successful candidate will provide support to individuals with disabilities and those in OOHC requiring emergency respite, oversee various programs within the facility for participants aged 12 to 25, and work directly with participants Monday to Friday on site. Admin responsibilities include managing staff and overseeing short-term accommodation, day programs for post-school leavers, school holiday activities, after-school care, and weekend support. The successful candidate will work as part of a staff and management team, engaging directly with clients and coordinating resources and activities within the program.

The Role

  • Work with and support clients in accordance with the National Disability Standards, program’s policies and procedures, and clients’ individual management plans.
  • Mentor and support best practice in supporting participants with presenting disabilities.
  • Implement overall program plans and strategies as instructed.
  • Oversee the development of an activity schedule and related resources including weekly excursions and outings.
  • Oversee all programs within the facility where applicable, including but not limited to STA & Day Program.
  • Accurately report and address all quality issues, complete all reporting requirements, and report all WHS incidents.
  • Provide guidance to staff in supporting clients in accordance with organizational standards, the National Disability Standards, program policies and procedures, and client individual goals.
  • Engage with clients in day program, short-term accommodation/respite care and support their inclusion in daily routines and decision-making.
  • Participate in recreational activities for residents (may include outside activities requiring sound physical health).
  • Develop a positive approach in interactions with residents, using strategies of teaching, communication, personal and practical assistance as appropriate.
  • Provide therapeutic care and support to clients with disabilities and trauma backgrounds in a residential and day program setting.

Ideal Person

The ideal person we are looking for has:

  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g. Disability, community service, social work).
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs.
  • Experience in supervising staff members, excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating services and supporting a team of support workers.
  • Experience in delivering services that promote inclusivity and diversity.
  • Experience in managing and supporting a team to manage challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Experience working with individuals with NDIS funding, and those engaged with the Out of Home Care System (DCJ or CYPS).
  • Empathy towards the young individuals under our care in a non-judgmental and open-minded manner.
You will also be required to undergo a National Police Check. To be considered for this role you will also be required to hold:
  • A current Driver’s License;
  • A Working with Vulnerable People Card (ACT);
  • A Working with Children Check (NSW)
