Who we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced House Manager, and several Support Workers to provide high quality care to our complex needs’ client in a residential setting, skilled in de-escalation techniques and comfortable with regulated restrictive practices when absolutely necessary.
Your responsibilities as a House Manager:
The House Manager will be responsible for leading a team of dynamic Support Workers in delivering high-level care that meets the HSQS (Human Services Quality Standards) and Standards of Care.
Your week will be a balanced between direct client care, administration and staff supervision days, professional development, attending stakeholder meetings, ensuring smooth day to day operations of your client’s residence, while maintaining compliance.
Your success will be achieved by your ability to work collaboratively with your peers, Care Coordinator, Operations Manager, and CEO to ensure smooth operations of your client’s teams.
You will partake in the on-call roster, on weekly rotations. You are expected to have full time availability, 38 hours a week, with split between shifts and administration office days.
A day in the role of a House Manager will include:
- Proactively promote and create a home like environment that enhance the well-being of your client with complex needs in a residential setting, underpinned by a therapeutic model of care
- Confidently provide mentoring and leadership to your team to provide flexible services which meet the individual needs of our client
- Implement partnership in care approach, to enable optimal health and well-being to be achieved, including the active involvement, of people with disabilities, their families, and referrers in the identification of health care needs and the training of staff around individual needs and preferences
- Provide additional on the job support and training if required
- Develop, review, and actively maintain all clients’ support plans in conjunction with all stakeholders, residents, and other service providers to ensure HSQS and Standards of Care needs are achieved
- Ensure that all compliance is met within the team and addresses the organisational requirements. This will include supervision, audits, and feedback to the organisation
- Ensure a person centred, trauma informed, and self-directed approach is embedded within the culture of the facility to maximize independence
- Actively demonstrate and promote healthy behaviours for your client, present with enthusiasm and energy
- Attend stakeholder meetings, operational meetings, and team meetings
- Proactively seek and engage in professional development that improves and enriches both your client’s and team experience and care
Applicants must demonstrate a positive, inclusive attitude towards disability and mental health matters and possess a comprehensive understanding of the challenges that arise in practice. As House Manager, you must be prepared to develop the team’s skills via supervision and on the job coaching.
Essential Selection Criteria:
- A minimum Certificate III in Disability Support or a related field
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training (Well Life Services offers this training) or Maybo trained
- Hope and Healing
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role overseeing/coordinating disability accommodation services and managing a team of staff in a residential setting, including supervision and mentoring. Twelve months experience in the sector is preferable
- Experience working with residents with complex needs and behaviours of concern
- Ability to engage, build and maintain solid stakeholder relationships coupled with your sound negotiation and dispute resolution skills
- Experience writing and coordinating incident reports
- Strong interpersonal, oral, written and team building skills
- A current, valid Paid Working with Children Check
- A current, valid Paid NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- A current, valid QLD Australian C Class Driver’s Licence and comprehensive car insurance and registration
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Medication Management
