Your new role
Your new role as HR Advisor forms an integral part of the People & Culture Team providing employee relations and industrial relations advice, coaching and mentoring within their portfolios to ensure the most effective utilisation of human resources for the purpose of achieving strategic business objectives.
Duties include:
- Providing advice and guidance to Managers and employees on legislative and policy frameworks and systems relating to all aspects of the human resources functions and offer a wide range of contemporary HR solutions and recommendations in relation to issues that arise
- Draw upon multiple sources of information and expertise for own decision-making process and change own interpersonal understanding adapting style to a situation
- Elicit information regarding IR/ER matters to multiple stakeholders in their portfolios
- Working with Mangers and staff to ensure employee relations are dealt with proactively and professionally
- Providing advice and support to managers in dealing with employee's grievances, unacceptable performance, disciplinary, fitness for work and workers compensation claim matters that may arise
- Develop effective, collaborative relationships and networking with all internal stakeholders
- Work proactively with Managers to ensure employment entitlements are compliant with Policies and Procedures
- Develop, maintain and promote HR Policies and Procedures in accordance with and legislative requirements
- Drive or support efforts to embed HR initiatives into the Portfolio
- Liaise with managers in all aspects of job design to ensure position descriptions are well drafted and roles evaluated
- Identify and analyse trends occurring in the business and work with internal stakeholders to implement business solutions that are portfolio centered
- Support the Managers in identifying training needs, reviewing individual training and development plans
- Deliver on a range of internal education sessions to Managers as required
- Provide support and assistance to Chief People Officer and Senior HR Advisor as required
What you'll need to succeed
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management and minimum of two years of previous experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated understanding of human resource principles, and ability to translate HR policies into practice
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner maintaining confidentiality at all times
- High level of customer service delivery and communication / interpersonal skills
- Experience in interpreting and analysing policies and industrial instruments and the Fair Work Act and relevant employment law
- Strong organisational skills including the ability to manage workloads and achieve outcomes in a busy environment
- Ability to work independently and exercise initiative and discretion
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills in order to develop strategies, ideas and opportunities for resolving issues
