Position Overview: The HSE Manager for Renewable Energy Substation will be responsible for overseeing all health, safety, and environmental aspects of our Renewable Energy Substations. This role will involve developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive HSE programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, mitigate risks, and promote a culture of safety and environmental sustainability.
Position Overview:
The HSE Advisor for Renewable Energy Substation will play a key role in promoting a safe and environmentally responsible work environment within our substations. This position involves implementing HSE policies and procedures, conducting inspections and audits, and providing training and support to employees and contractors
Safety Advisor will work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to implement best practices and maintain a culture of safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of Renewable Energy Substations to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide guidance and support to site personnel on HSE matters, including safe work practices, hazard identification, and emergency procedures.
- Facilitate safety training sessions and toolbox talks for employees and contractors working within substations.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and develop recommendations to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.
- Coordinate and participate in emergency response drills and exercises, ensuring that employees are adequately trained and prepared for potential emergencies.
- Monitor and report on HSE performance, including the compilation of statistical data, preparation of reports, and identification of trends or areas requiring improvement.
- Monitor environmental compliance and implement measures to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to integrate HSE considerations into project planning and execution.
- Maintain accurate records of HSE activities, including inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
- Serve as a resource and point of contact for HSE-related inquiries, issues, and initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Workplace/Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Proven experience as an HSE Advisor or similar role, preferably within the Australian context.
- Experience preferably in the electrical supply industry or power generation industry is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Australian HSE legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proficient in using HSE software and tools for data management, reporting, and analysis.
- Driver Licence.
- White Card.
Skills and abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and relevant industry guidelines.
- People orientated with a positive attitude and the desire to help with the ability to maintain a positive, patient, and professional attitude at all times.
