About the roles:
We are currently seeking HSE Advisors to join the Carey team, FIFO ex Perth
These positions will provide effective HSE advice and support to all site personnel and will have a solid understanding of HSE systems and processes and be responsible for the following :-
- Provide input to site Safety Management Plan ensuring obligations outlined in Client, Carey statutory/regulatory authority plans are complied with;
- Liaise with Client on safety matters and attend client meetings as required;
- Communicate and maintain a “Safety First” culture with site personnel actively promoting methods to identify, eliminate or control hazards in the workplace;
- Participating In and conduct regular internal audits with provision of feedback to field staff on the results;
- Provide assistance and guidance in the investigation of accidents, ensuring that root causes are identified and appropriate corrective actions to address causes are instigated;
- Track corrective action items from inspections, incident investigations, hazard reports, field leadership activities, safety meetings etc. and ensure all actions have been effectively implemented and are reviewed to ensure they continue to meet safety and operational objectives;
- Implement approved procedures for the management of injured personnel on site, including providing appropriate assistance and support. Liaise with Carey’s Injury Management Coordinator, onsite medical staff and supervision in the development and implementation of return to work programs for injured personnel.
- Assist Project Managers and Supervisors of individual areas to ensure that all safety reporting is completed and distributed on time;
- Assist the Project Managers and Supervisors with the provision and interpretation of data and information in relation to the site HSE system;
- Complete monthly internal HSEQ reporting requirements:
- Review, maintain and update risk registers on an ongoing basis;
- Assists implement new initiatives on site;
- Assist others to enter events into the internal HSEQ reporting system;
- Participate in the assessment of risk and the implementation of control mechanisms;
- Take part in site emergency response activities in accordance with emergency procedures;
- Provide input into the review and enhancement of emergency procedures and first response system;
- Distribute material on safety education, promotion and awareness;
- Deliver site induction
Qualifications
- Certificate IV in OH&S or higher;
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessing - Preferable;
- Current First Aid Certificate; and
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office skills.
Experience
- Experience working in safety management in a mining/construction or heavy industrial environment;
- Familiarity and experience interpreting Australian safety legislation - Work, Health and Safety Act 2020, Work Health & Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
- Experience working with integrated ISO standards of 9001, 14001 and 45001 accredited HSEQ systems; and
- Comprehensive understanding of behavioural focussed safety systems, including auditing.
