Job DescriptionSophia Mundi Steiner School is seeking an inspirational leader and progressive thinker who can work collaboratively with staff and community to lead our school to achieve its ambitious strategic vision.Sophia Mundi is a progressive, co-educational, inner-city Steiner school located in the Abbotsford Convent, Melbourne. It offers a dynamic, creative and contemporary educational pathway from Prep to Year 12. In P-10 we offer a Steiner curriculum and in 11-12 the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.Working constructively with members of the School Management Team, the Principal is required to provide strategic and operational leadership and plays a critical role in supporting and maintaining strong relationships with the teachers, students, parent bodies, community leaders and governing Board members.The successful applicant will have a deep understanding of Steiner pedagogy as well as the educational frameworks, administrative systems and processes needed to underpin successful learning outcomes and school wellbeing.Key skills and attributes include:· Demonstrated capacity to create a shared vision, define and gain acceptance of School goals and set and communicate expectations for effective performance.· Outstanding interpersonal skills and proven ability to respectfully maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and the wider community.· Knowledge, skills and experience in, and a commitment to, collaborative and distributive educational leadership and management; with the ability to lead professionally in complex, dynamic and challenging situations within a P-12 school setting.· Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Steiner/Waldorf education and pedagogy underpinned by a deep understanding of Anthroposophy.· Demonstrated capacity to produce and implement clear, evidence-based improvement plans and policies and lead innovation and change.· Proven ability to manage school resources and implement appropriate strategies to best achieve the core aims of the school and which support and promote high quality, evidence-based teaching practice and improved outcomes for students learning wellbeing.· Demonstrated capacity to ensure that the School's human, physical and financial resources are efficiently allocated and managed.· Demonstrated knowledge of, and compliance with, legislative and regulatory requirements, and Departmental policy and procedures. Experience with the requirements for minimum standards set by the Victorian Registration and Qualification Authority (VRQA) and other key regulatory bodies.· Demonstrated capacity to create a professional learning community that is focused on the continuous improvement of teaching and learning, supporting all staff to achieve high standards and commitment to their own learning and wellbeing.Experience:· 3 years as either Principal or Assistant Principal (in a Steiner School preferred).· Steiner trained or equivalent experience.· VIT Registration.Please read the Principal Information Pack, which is available on the School , for more information.This is an ongoing permanent position; however, the Board will consider an interim (short term) contract available for a 2024 start as we search for a permanent Principal to lead and grow the School.Interested?
