About the UNSW Human Resources Business Partnering (HR BP) Team: As students return to campus in record numbers, our team is growing to support increasing operational demands. The HR BP team plays both an operational and strategic role partnering with people leaders to achieve their people strategy and furthering the meaningful work we do at UNSW.
Each Faculty or Division has a dedicated HR BP function to service their needs. You’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the best minds in their field and be inspired by the talent and passion of colleagues and students.
This is an exciting time to join our HR Division as our team continues its growth in line with the development and expansion of all our faculties and divisions across UNSW. Embark on a role where you are trusted to work autonomously but backed by a supportive team which focuses on learning, progression and excellence in people partnering.
Why Your Role Matters: We’re seeking a HR Consultant to join the HR function supporting Law and Justice. You’ll play a meaningful role in the strategic direction and employee life cycle experience across your portfolio in the school. Bringing your existing experience of providing dedicated HR business partnering support, you’ll build trusted relationships across your client group to offer high-level HR solutions, strategies and advice across workplace and employee relations management. In this hands-on people-focused role, your day to day will include:
Providing trusted HR advice and guidance to managers and employees in your client group
Proactively partnering with clients to provide effective HR solutions, no two days are the same.
Offer employee lifecycle guidance from performance management to line management.
Implementing HR policies and procedures and improvements as an expert in your field
Maintaining up to date knowledge of HR legislation and practices
Providing effective HR reporting and analysis for informed decision making
Supporting and mentoring our HR Officers
Who You Are: We're looking for strong HR professionals with experience across a similar role in a complex and client- centred environment; a strategically minded Consultant looking for their role, with:
Practiced experience in independently managing employee relations across complex work-place matters (career progression, performance, health and grievances).
Confidence in workforce planning guidance, offering guidance on sound job design principles considering existing roles and standards.
Strong influencing and negotiation skills to communicate with partners of all levels, a confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
Experience in interpreting insightful business reports to develop and implement people planning strategies.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, EA interpretation and fair work and confidence to apply in the workplace.
Further details can be found in a copy of the Position Description. This is available via JOBS@UNSW. Applicants must have working rights in Australia and be able to be on site in Kensington regularly.
Benefits and Culture: At UNSW, the work you do has a ripple effect far beyond your immediate role. Here, you can put your skills to the service of something bigger, something meaningful. We offer:
Flexible hours and the opportunity to work from home regularly.
Discounts & entitlements including on UNSW courses.
Flexible 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading
Additional 3 days leave over the December break.
Wellbeing programs and initiatives, such as recharge week and health checks.
