Position: Senior SchoolHumanities Teacher (Years 9-12)
Status: Part Time up to Full Time – Temporary Contract

Position Location: Valley Campus, 4 The Valley Avenue, Gungahlin
Line Management: This position will be responsible to the Head of Senior School through the Humanities Faculty Leader, and ultimately to the Principal
Burgmann Anglican School is an Early Childhood to Year 12 School with campuses located at Gungahlin and Forde.
The school prides itself on its innovative and creative approach to curriculum and education and its strong sense of community and pastoral care of the students and their families and the staff of the school. The school has a strong link with the Gungahlin Anglican Church which shares facilities and resources with the school.
Duties
- Use a range of teaching strategies to deliver quality programs that are inclusive of all students and are responsive to their learning strengths and needs
- Ability to teach Sociology, Economics, Legal Studies and Business Studies. Ability to teach Religious Studies would be advantageous
- Establish a rapport with students to create inclusive, supportive learning environments
- Work collaboratively with colleagues
- Communicate with colleagues, students and parents in a respectful, effective and professional way
- Actively participate in the school’s co-curricular program, providing appropriate duty of care and supervision which may include a weekend commitment
- Participate in the pastoral care program and if required, lead a Pastoral Care class
- Actively participate in professional learning activities aligned with the school’s priorities
- Actively support the Christian ethos of an Anglican School
- Other duties as required
Pastoral Care
- Take responsibility for a Pastoral Care class, including:
- Developing positive relationships with students
- Monitoring uniform, appearance and student behaviour
- Teach the Pastoral Care program
- Liaise with parents regarding academic and pastoral progress of students
- Undertake administrative tasks required
Selection Criteria
- A relevant teaching qualification and experience teaching to Senior School students
- A passion for effective teaching and learning
- Demonstrated capacity to differentiate the teaching program to address students’ strengths and varied academic needs
- Experience in the meaningful integration of digital technologies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An understanding and support of a Christian based education in an Anglican context
- An understanding of positive education
- A willingness to participate in the school’s co-curricular program
Salary, Terms and Conditions
The successful applicant will be employed under the Independent Schools ACT Standards Model (Teachers) Enterprise Agreement 2021.
