About the role
This role supports the efficient and safe operational planning, control and coordination functions on Jemena’s Electricity Distribution Networks & Assets under the operational management of the Control Room.
The HV Operations Planner is responsible for the efficient and safe provision of the network access planning functions on the sub-transmission and distribution electrical assets, which involves communication across the business, allocation of operational resources and the preparation of switching instructions within defined time lines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure Planned outages are appropriately managed to minimise customer impact
- Key contact for HV customers
- Ensure data integrity within Control Room IT&OT tools are effectively and efficiently maintained in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain Competencies appropriate to the position
- Training and mentoring of other staff members.
- Monitoring effectiveness of the planning process / procedures and assisting in their revision and development.
- Provide technical and commercial input and assistance for strategic project planning and change management initiatives.
A little about you:
Ideally, you will possess the ability to make autonomous decisions and demonstrate a high level of concentration when resolving non-routine problems. Given the intricate nature of the distribution system and its diverse switching configurations, you should bring sound judgment, keen perception, and practical common sense to effectively tackle complex issues as they arise.
Additionally, it is essential that you excel in creative thinking, thrive under pressure, adapt easily to new technology in both field and Control Room settings, and have expertise in operating electrical distribution networks while understanding related procedures. Furthermore, familiarity with sub-transmission and distribution network protection and control schemes being crucial for accurately developing electrical switching instructions.
You will also bring with you:
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders regarding network access for maintenance and construction activities.
- Involvement in preparing programs for commissioning major system elements and reviewing system design proposals.
- Responsibility for maintaining the HV customer database according to Control Room standards.
- Understanding and expertise in electrical distribution network elements, including construction, maintenance, and testing activities.
- A diploma in ESI – Power Systems or relevant experience in network operations.
