Your assignment

We are looking for a Hydraulic & Fire Specialist Engineer to provide technical advice to facilitate the preparation of design documentation, specifications, and reports, as well as attend site inspections and provide technical advice to resolve construction queries.

Location: Greater Western Sydney, NSW
Length of contract: Permanent / Full Time
Your main responsibilities

As the Hydraulic & Fire Specialist Engineer, you will be reporting to the Director of Structurers and lead the hydraulic engineering analysis, design, and delivery services for high-rise residential/commercial projects. Key responsibilities include:

Undertaking Hydraulic engineering analysis, assessment and calculations for the concept and detailed design of building structures
Lead the preparation of concept and detailed design drawings and sketches, and technical specifications and reports
Provide guidance, mentoring and training to less experienced engineers
Carry out design checks of work carried out by other engineers
Resolve building contractor and client queries during construction
Inspect Hydraulic works during construction to check compliance with relevant design documentation, specifications and standards
Develop systems and concepts for a sustainable and efficient approach to hydraulic design
Your background

To be successful for this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualification (minimum Bachelor level) in Civil / Hydraulic Engineering
3-6 years of experience, and Fire Hydrant & Sprinkler Design experience.
MIEAust - CPEng preferred, but optional
Knowledge and understanding of Australian standards for services design and NCC requirements, and relevant Australian and International hydraulic design standards
Knowledge of design software CAD and Revit - draft/review Revit MEP models / Cad models
Strong judgement and initiative in the application of hydraulic engineering design principles, approaches and methodologies
Appreciation of building construction practices, methodologies, and techniques
Strong understanding and ability to manage the scope of services, budget, programme and delivery requirements for tasks and projects undertaken
