Our mining client is currently looking for an experienced Hydrogeologist/Hydrologist for a 12-month contract. This role is working remotely from home with an office presence in Brisbane or Townsville once per week and site presence once per month in Mt Isa.

Your new role

• Proactive leadership in environmental management through practical implementation of technical knowledge on water-related issues
• Developing and executing surface water-groundwater management projects
• Prepare and manage scope of works, tender processes and projects to a high standard, as required.
• Contractor management/engagement and strong collaboration with peers and customers
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and take responsibility for hydrological/hydrogeological site investigations and assessments.
• Use technical expertise to corroborate, prove, verify, confirm, and revise reports and conceptual understandings on complex surface and groundwater quality and flow aspects of different projects, borefield designs, feasibility studies, surface and groundwater modelling, contaminant studies and water resource compliance reporting.
• Support the implementation and QA/QC of the information contained in the Environmental Database.
• Promoting and working to HSEC policies and procedures

What you'll need to succeed

• Tertiary qualification/s in environmental science/engineering, civil engineering with environmental management or hydrology/hydrogeology/geochemistry (BSc as a minimum)
• Relevant operational experience (minimum of 3 years, but preferably 5 years or more) in a water-related role (surface water and/or groundwater management)
• Systems experience, be goal-orientated and highly organised, self-driven, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with contractors, consultants, and operational personnel.
• Experience in surface water and/or groundwater monitoring systems, GIS applications and water accounting is highly desirable.
• Experience in supervision of drilling and pump testing programs is desirable.
• Sound understanding of health, safety, environment, and community systems and processes and their interrelationships
• Availability to travel to Mount Isa when required.

The successful candidate will need to be based in either Townsville or Brisbane.
