What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for a range of Team Leader positions within the AFP’s Chief Technology Office (CTO).
These positions offer a unique opportunity to work within an evolving area that offer a broad span of capabilities to support the AFP. As a Team Leader in the CTO you will have the opportunity to develop and implement new and innovative ways of working, and have influence to an organisation protecting Australians and Australia's interests. You will lead a team of experienced technology enthusiasts and subject matter experts.
Key drivers for the these positions will be around enhancing user experience, managing risk and compliance, and improving automation and efficiencies. You will serve as a trusted adviser to business stakeholders and understand their core business processes and priorities.
As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position.
These positions can be worked from any capital city in Australia but will report into the section based in Canberra, ACT. Work from home arrangements will also be considered.
What will you do?
- Team Leader - Modern Workplace - Lead a team who maintain and build the operating environments used within the AFP computing infrastructure as well as the installation and updates of the applications running on them – This includes workstation, server, and mobile computer devices.
- Team Leader - Identity and Access Management - Help build the capability to perform the function of Identity and Access Management (IAM) for the AFP. This role will have a focus on enabling integrations with leading IAM products, strengthening the capability and leading a multi-disciplinary team.
- Team Leader – Collaboration - Help build and promote the capabilities in the Collaboration space, primarily focused on the Microsoft M365 and SharePoint Online platforms, as well as to establish and maintain the relevant information management, governance, and integration points across both operational and business areas of the AFP.
- Team Leader – Cloud Services - Lead a diverse team who maintain the AFP computing infrastructure as well as the on-going management and sustainment of cloud platforms – This includes Private and Public cloud platforms such as VMware Private Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.

- These positions are AFP Band 8
- AFP employees are required to have received a minimum of two COVID-19 vaccinations (or one dose if the Janssen vaccine was used).
