The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Identified First Nations Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife Waijungbah Jarjums (Child Health) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Ensure a holistic approach to the health care needs of the client
- Act as a resource person for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and referring agencies
- Advocate for the infant / child and their family and change agent to support positive health outcomes
- Provide care in a convenient location for them, in a community space, in the Waijungbah Jarjums clinic or at home
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
- Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Permanent part time, temporary part time
- Base salary ranging from $41.74 - $53.53 per hour

Waijungbah Jarjums embodies Gold Coast Health's commitment to the development of culturally and socially sensitive care for the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Co-led and co-designed by the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, Identified Midwifery Navigator, Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander unit and Griffith Universities Professor of First Peoples Health.
Waijungbah Jarjums provides a community based one-stop hub for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and babies across the first 1000 days with a continuity of midwifery care group practice, Child Health Nurses, Allied Health, and Health workers. Central to the innovation of the newly developed model of care is the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community working group.
