SHAC’s mission is to support families and individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness on their path to a secure future. We do this by providing supported temporary accommodation, mobile support services and financial inclusion services to assist people to move to secure housing and achieve long term financial security. SHAC is seeking an Immediate Housing Response Worker to support couples and single people to access short term temporary accommodation (including motels) and proactively assist them to transition to secure housing.

We are seeking a person with relevant experience or qualifications in human services to fill this position. We are offering a fixed term, full time contract to 30 June 2026.
Job Responsibilities
The position’s responsibilities include:
- Completing intake assessments of single people and Couples who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness
- Securing short term accommodation (including motels) for the target group
- Providing culturally sensitive case management support to assist Singles and Couples to transition to secure housing
- Negotiating assisted referrals and facilitating client access to other required services as part of the case management services provided
- Maintaining accurate client records, recording client data and assisting with reporting requirements
Key Selection Criteria
- Qualifications in human services or significant relevant experience
- Well developed culturally sensitive case management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within the organisation and with external partners
- Ability to work within our strong values framework (set out above)
Positions at SHAC are subject to the successful candidate being able to obtain a Working with Children card (Blue Card) and the maintenance of a current Qld Driver’s License and may also be subject to a police check.
