We are looking to expand our team with another Behaviour Support Practitioner. Key Responsibilities
- Identify and implement intervention approaches and strategies that are evidence based, holistic, client-centred and outcome driven
- Functional behaviour assessment
- Identification of restrictive practices
- Write Behaviour Support plans (interim and comprehensive) Plan, deliver and evaluate Behaviour Supports relating to the individual’s needs in line with the Disability Services Standards, Child Safety, NDIS and other relevant legislative requirements
- Utilize & provide a range of assessment tools & techniques
- Support Participants & other stakeholders to develop & review support plans
- Advocate for Participants, their carers and families to enable choice and decision making that supports independence and quality of life
Our ideal candidate
The Behaviour Support Practitioner will undertake a person-centred approval to behaviour that is focused on improving quality of life and reducing behaviours of concern. The role will work closely with our Participants, their families, carers and support networks to develop intervention plans and strategies that allow our Participants to live their best life.
This entails a high level of customer service, communication, time management and the ability to prioritise tasks.
Our ideal candidate will require the following:
- A degree in psychology, counselling, social science or other related fields
- Current APS, ACA, AASW registration.
- Assessed as Core, Provisional & above by the NDIS commission against the PBS capability framework
- Ability to conduct functional behaviour assessment and design function-based Behaviour Support plans
- Experience using evidence-based interventions/strategies and person-centred approach in managing challenging behaviours
- Minimum of 2 years (full time equivalent) experience working as a Behaviour Support Practitioner and providing positive Behaviour Support
- Experience in working with people with complex needs including, complex trauma, adults and the elderly with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and other complex and mental health diagnoses
- Understand the principles of Positive Behaviour Support
- NSW Driver's Licence, access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Clearance.
- NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission- Practitioner ID number.
- Current Covid-19 Vaccination.
Desirable:
- Child protection experience.
- Experience/qualifications in trauma-informed care.
- Bilingual (Arabic & English) speaking.
