We are seeking an experienced Refugee/Immigration Lawyer to join our team at Craddock Murray Neumann on a permanent basis.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Refugee / Immigration Lawyer role is a challenging but very rewarding role that will give you the opportunity to further develop your advocacy and legal skills.
Our caseload includes primary applications, merits review matters and judicial review.
You will be required to travel both domestically and abroad for the role at different times throughout the year.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Preparation of applications for refugee status
- Preparation of briefs and court books for judicial review hearings
- Appearing before courts and tribunals
- Regular communication with the solicitor for the Offshore Government

ABOUT YOU
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Current legal practising certificate in an Australian state
- Experience working with refugees and a strong interest in refugee law
- Experience assisting with primary and merits review applications or judicial review of migration matters (in Australia or elsewhere)
- Experience appearing before courts of all levels
- Demonstrated strategic thinking ability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A capability to conduct complex legal research
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, including remotely.
- A well-developed ability to manage stakeholders
- Resilience, personal resolve, tolerance and the capacity to work in challenging environments
