The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in the heart of the next stage of commercialisation and entrepreneurship transformation at Monash! The Impact & Engagement Manager is a new and pivotal role in the wider Enterprise Innovation portfolio to position Monash as a key contributor to innovation in Australia.
Supporting the Chief Commercialisation Officer and Director, Commercialisation Strategy, this role is a key point of liaison between connecting commercialisation and entrepreneurship activities and outcomes at Monash to the wider DVC Enterprise & Engagement portfolio, university stakeholders and the broader startup and commercialisation ecosystem.
The Impact & Engagement Manager works across strategic and tactical forms of engagement and communication, including developing strategies to build awareness and measure results, as well as overseeing the output of communications including media releases, opinion pieces, social media engagement and other forms of communication that reach our desired audience.
A day in the life of the Impact & Engagement Manager is diverse, from working with key teams such as Monash Innovation and The Generator to shape meaningful metrics in the context of storytelling, through to working with the central university marketing and communications team to develop campaigns and contribute to the Monash narrative around impact.
Essential to this role is substantial experience in communications and engagement strategy and operations, as well as an in-depth understanding of digital marketing tools and public relations and how to leverage these for brand building and awareness. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including highly developed relationship management skills are required to be successful in this role in order to interact with, and gain buy-in from a variety of stakeholders.
If this sounds like a position that suits your current career focus we look forward to hearing from you.
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
While we don't require you to address the Key Selection Criteria in your application, we do ask that you address the four questions below in your cover letter to help us learn more about you: * This is a new role to help shape the way Monash communicates its impact in commercialisation and entrepreneurship across many different audiences. Can you provide an example of where you have developed a strategy in communications and reflect on the key outcomes of implementing the strategy?
- We need someone who can distil data and complex scientific concepts for different stakeholders to understand the stories and deeper impact in a simple way. Can you reflect on ways you have been able to effectively communicate complex information and narratives to a broad audience?
- A key part of the role is working collaboratively with many stakeholders across Monash as well as externally such as networks and the media. Can you provide insight around your style of building relationships and collaborating with diverse stakeholders?
- Finally, although previous experience of working in commercialisation, startups or entrepreneurship is not essential to this role, what is important is your interest in this space. So tell us a little bit about what excites you about working in commercialisation and entrepreneurship
