Import Operations Clerk - Wholesale Forwarding

Position Overview:

We are seeking a candidate that is either a trainee seeking a career path and requiring support through a Certificate IV in freight forwarding, or a dynamic, detail-oriented and professional Import Operations Clerk with up to two years forwarding experience, preferably in a wholesale environment, to join our Brisbane Head Office. This pivotal role will be busy and involves managing day-to-day operations for import FAK's (Freight of All Kinds), liaising with depots and customers promptly, working with an offshore support team and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery, communication and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Efficiently handle import FAK's, coordinating cargo movement and availability with various stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to import activities, and ensure our software is updated effectively and timely.
• Actively communicate with depots and customers via phone, email and software, providing updates and resolving inquiries to maintain high customer satisfaction levels.
• Monitor and manage Import Operations to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Respond to daily pricing queries from our overseas agent partners quickly and accurately utilizing tools provided by the company. 
• Collaborate with team members, onshore and offshore, to optimize operational processes and enhance service quality.

Qualifications:

• Trainee’s seeking to apply do not require any experience, however some understanding and familiarity of freight forwarding systems or operations will be highly valued as the successful candidate will be required to learn quickly.  
• If you have experience, then proven experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations, preferably in import management, will be required.
• An understanding of import processes, key parties and regulations is an advantage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Expedient would be highly advantageous, however knowledge other industry software such as Cargowise is highly transferable.
• A passion for technology and an interest in process improvement will be highly regarded.
• Formal degree or diploma qualifications are desirable but not essential, your attitude and commitment to your role, as well as your ability to learn and receive feedback as part of a team are more important.
