The South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC) is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join its Board of Directors as an Independent Director.
Morphettville, an iconic venue and vibrant entertainment destination, serves as the proud home of the SAJC and thoroughbred racing in metropolitan Adelaide. Undergoing an extensive $350 million redevelopment, Morphettville is poised to introduce a host of exciting amenities, including a new community plaza, mixed-use apartment buildings, townhouses, a supermarket, and more.
Role and Responsibilities:
As an Independent Director, you will play a crucial role in providing strategic guidance and oversight to the SAJC, ensuring its continued success and adherence to best governance practices. Key responsibilities include:
1. Participating actively in Board meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes.
2. Providing independent and objective judgment on matters relating to the SAJC's operations, financial management, and strategic direction.
3. Collaborating with fellow Directors and executive leadership to develop and implement policies, initiatives, and long-term plans.
4. Monitoring financial performance, risk management strategies, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
5. Representing the interests of stakeholders, including members, patrons, industry partners, and the broader community.
6. Contributing expertise, insights, and networks to support the SAJC's mission and objectives.
7. Upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in all Board activities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:
1. A background in accounting or finance, with a recognised qualification in the field (e.g., CPA, CA, CFA).
2. Proven experience serving on corporate boards
3. Demonstrated understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting principles.
4. Familiarity with governance frameworks, regulatory standards, and risk management practices.
5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and facilitate constructive discussions.
6. A commitment to ethical leadership, diversity, and inclusion.
The term of appointment will be offered between 2-3 years dependent on date of commencement.
