UCWB builds connected and thriving communities with a team of over 200 staff and volunteers. For 140 years, we’ve been helping people create positive futures and lead independent lives they are proud of.
UCWB provides services throughout the greater Adelaide region, mental health, aged care, NDIS, child and family, psychology, and financial wellbeing. We also operate two social enterprises, Psychology SA, and Torrensville Community Child Care Centre.

The Roles
We are seeking one or more Non-Executive Directors to join the UCWB Board, or to become a Member of our Finance Risk and Audit Committee or our Clinical Governance Committee.
We invite potential Board and Committee members who are highly skilled, visionary leaders with a strong track record of successfully shaping and guiding at the highest level. Candidates will be forward thinkers, capable of navigating the evolving landscape and will have a deep interest in and demonstrated commitment to social justice and creating positive impact in the community.
We are seeking candidates with one or more of the following background, expertise, and knowledge:
- Legal - commercial
- Technology – strategy, digital and data expertise
- Clinical Governance
- Practicing Member of the Uniting Church
We encourage applications from First Nations people, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds and people with Lived and Living Expertise for Board and Committee membership.
Non-Executive Board member criteria:
- Prior Board and/or Committee experience.
- Candidates who have undertaken Governance training (eg AICD), will be highly regarded, although not essential
- Commitment to excellence in governance practice and culture.
- Time for Board meetings (up to 10 per year), attendance at UCWB events, and Board Committees which meet quarterly.
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, commercial acumen and change management.
- Experience empowering leadership teams through the review, approval and monitoring of strategic plans and annual budgets.
- Expertise, skills, industry experience in balance with existing Directors and Committee members.
Remuneration
Nominal Directors fees apply to Board positions.
Location
Meetings are usually held at UCWB premises at Bowden.
