This is an Identified Position in accordance with the University’s Identified Positions Procedure. The filling of this position is intended to constitute a special measure and is aimed at increasing employment opportunities for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons in line with the strategies in the ANU Enterprise Agreement.
Position OverviewThe Australian Dictionary of Biography (ADB), National Centre of Biography (NCB) in the School of History, Research School of Social Science (RSSS) College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is seeking to appoint a highly qualified individual for the continuing position of Research Officer for its Indigenous biographies. The ADB has a First Nations Biography Australia (FNBA) project, which is partly funded by the JT Reid Charitable Trusts, and the ADB Editorial Board had made the decision to revise the dictionary in the period before 1850, which will involve the inclusion of many more indigenous biographies. This expansion of indigenous articles has the support of the ADB Indigenous Working Party led and comprising Indigenous Scholars who represent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities around the country. The successful applicant will have professional and technical skills and experience in research and editing biography, together with a research track in historical writing and an independent research agenda.
