About the role

Join our team at Ironbark Indigenous Support (IIS) program, where we are dedicated to providing tailored and accessible intensive case management and advocacy support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) clients in Darwin, Palmerston, and six Town Camp Communities, including outreach services.

As an Indigenous Case Officer (ICO) with us, you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) women and families experiencing Family and Domestic Violence (FDV). Your primary focus will be on ensuring client safety and ongoing well-being through intensive case management, advocacy, and capacity-building efforts.

You will advocate effectively on behalf of clients, build upon their strengths, and respond to crises with timely and appropriate intervention. Additionally, you will coordinate case conferences and apply risk analysis strategies across service delivery to ensure comprehensive support and client safety.

You will also collaborate with relevant organisations and advocate for improved client access to service programs, aiming to achieve sustainable outcomes.

If you're passionate about making a meaningful difference and possess the skills and dedication needed for this role, we encourage you to apply and become part of our mission to support Indigenous communities.

We are looking for a suitable applicant who has:

  • A demonstrated understanding of the factors impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people and communities.
  • Experience in Case Management practices tailored to support ATSI clients.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage challenging behaviours and respond to crisis situations.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining networks that complement the program.
  • The ability to manage time efficiently, resolve routine problems, and meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communication.

All applicants must be willing and able to obtain a Working with Children's Card, a National Police Check and hold a current Driver's Licence.

In return for your skills and valued contribution you will be rewarded by;

  • Generous remuneration
  • 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading
  • Salary Packaging options
  • Well-being and professional development opportunities
  • Specialist Employee Supervision Program
