About the role
We are excited to announce the opportunity to join our team as an Industrial Designer. This is an entry level position best suited for someone looking for a start in their professional career with an immediate staff.
As an Industrial Designer, you will be expected to be proficient with SolidWorks 3D modelling software (or similar). Working closely with the operations team, project managers, marketing department and other stakeholders.
This position will involve, but not be limited to:
- Customers & Suppliers - liaise with Protector Aluminium & Glass’s customers and suppliers on design and development of new products, projects and opportunities.
- Drawings & Design - interpreting, editing, designing and drawing balustrading, fencing, security, screening and other general metal and glass fabricated products using our SolidWorks CAD system, based on client requirements and associated documentation.
- Trade & Production - work closely with our trade and production teams to ensure smooth progression of plans and drawings from tender to quotation, to production.
- Quality Management - work with our quality assurance and product compliance teams to ensure products are correctly manufactured in accordance with approved designs.
- Research & Development - assist with new innovative product ideas, designs and strategies to turn some of these ideas into reality.
- Marketing - work with our marketing team on designs, renders & 3D models and opportunities to further promote the business.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all drawings.
- Daily office tasks and duties as required by direct manager.
- Always act in a professional and ethical manner.

Required Skills and experience
- Proficient in 2D and 3D modelling in SolidWorks (or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
Additional Skills & Experience (desired but not essential):
- Knowledge and experience in Camworks software for CNC tooling pathways and operation
- SolidWorks simulation experience
- VFX animation/rendering experience in Blender or similar
- An understanding of aluminium metal fabrication
- Adobe suite knowledge (primarily Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign).
