We are seeking a skilled Spray Painter to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paint to structural steel and mechanical equipment using a spray gun. It will also include general maintenance of equipment prior to painting. The applicant must have a keen eye for detail and be able to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces for painting by grinding, cleaning, sanding and masking
- Select and mix paint colours to match specifications
- Apply paint to surfaces using a spray gun
- Securing items to be sprayed within the spray booth
- Drying, stacking and packaging of painted items
- Cleaning and maintenance of spray guns and painting equipment
- Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective gear
- Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed on time and to the required standard
Working Conditions:
The Spray Painter will work in a variety of settings, including workshops and construction sites. The job will require working in confined spaces or at heights. Applicants with Rope Access qualifications will be highly regarded.
Requirements:
- AQF Certificate II or III, or at least one year of relevant experience
- 2 years of relevant work experience in the role
- Proven experience as a Spray Painter or similar role
- Knowledge of painting techniques & materials
- License to operate a forklift truck
- A Work Safely at Heights certification
- Physical ability & dexterity to stand, bend and lift for extended periods of time
- Excellent attention to detail
Preferred Skills
- Rope Access qualification
- Drivers license
- White card for the construction industry
Our main workshop is in Miami (Qld) however the successful applicant will also be required to occasionally work on-site, on high-rise buildings on the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
