  • Opportunity to work in a system-based role to support core research information management support activities and systems.
  • Level 6, 0.7 FTE part-time appointment on an ongoing basis.
  • Base salary range: $87,460 - $92,430 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the team

The University Library provides information resources, services, systems and spaces to support, stimulate and innovate teaching, learning and research. The University Library is committed to developing and delivering services to be strategic enablers for the University in meeting its goals; enabling and promoting the creation, storage, transfer and seamless access to information and collaborating closely with the University community to deliver innovative solutions for their research, teaching and learning needs.

The University Library has two sections - Research and Collections and Engagement and Experience. Research and Collections provides a range of library services including the acquisition, management and discovery of digital and physical resources; development and management of rare and special collections; records and archive management; digitisation; and other digital initiatives.

Research Publication and Data Services is part of the Research and Collections section of the Library and provides services including research publication collection and auditing, research data management, researcher profiles, research metrics reporting, national research assessment reporting, and open scholarship.

About the opportunity

As the appointee you will, under general direction, play a significant role in increasing the visibility, discoverability and access to UWA's research publications and data through the development of the UWA Profiles and Research Repository, and other associated research management systems. You will contribute to the University's research assessment and reporting initiatives, research data management initiatives and will be expected to work closely with Research Publication and Data Services staff as well as Library staff more generally.

About you

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Substantial relevant experience at an appropriate level.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply standard metadata protocols relevant to research repositories such as, APIs, Dublin Core, XML, OAI-PMH.
  • Knowledge and understanding of research publication and data management support in a University context including the role of open access publishing, research repositories, and Government research assessment and reporting requirements.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed organisational skills with demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in a range of relevant software applications including Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and work cohesively within a team environment.
  • Ability to solve problems and produce innovative solutions.
  • Experience in the use of and support of current research information systems (CRIS) or research repositories is highly desirable.
  • An ability to manage rapidly changing work priorities and approach their work in an innovative and agile way.
