The Opportunity

Insitu Pacific is looking for Senior Publication Specialist to join the team to provide technical publications to LAND129 Ph3. Developing paper-based and electronic data elements for all levels of operation, maintenance, and training publications for Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS).

Responsibilities

  • The successful applicant will be proficient in R4i having created and populated Data Modules within an R4i CSDB or equivalent and have experience in R4i Writer
  • Develop paper-based and electronic publication products for all levels of operation, maintenance, and training for UAS systems including theory of operations, flight and user manuals, testing and troubleshooting procedures, illustrated parts breakdown, removal and installation procedures and training guides.
  • Develop draft illustrations and artwork mark-ups.
  • Update publication elements based on internal/external reviews, source data changes, equipment modifications, and customer improvement requests, and resolve source data gaps and inconsistencies with originator
  • Conduct peer reviews of completed publication elements for overall technical accuracy and customers format standards/specifications. Support customer verification reviews and take corrective action based on outcome.
  • Analyse technical requirements to determine project scope and deliverables. Estimate the impact of the proposal or changes to the publication elements. Develop technical publication project plan, budget, and baseline schedules.
  • Monitor performance to project plan and budget and take action to meet project objectives. Participate in or conduct customer technical and program reviews. Resolve identified discrepancies and initiate corrective action.

Experience/Qualifications

Essential

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret aerospace systems and associated technical information to develop high quality, compliant publication products.
  • Experience with authoring/publishing systems (e.g., Automated Publishing System).
  • Experience architecting, developing, and maintaining document-based and Integrated Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) publications data sets.
  • Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyse data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources at the department level.
  • Knowledge in the use of personal computing hardware and software to enter project information, such as, statements of work, resource identification and usage, task status, cost estimating and tracking, etc. Complete knowledge of processes and tools to maintain, archive, and retrieve digital files. Complete ability in constructing/building and providing reports and presentation material as needed for assigned projects.
  • Knowledge of research tools (e.g., search engines, library databases), methods (e.g., search parameters), and appropriate resources (e.g., external experts) to gather needed data.
  • Currently hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance (minimum baseline) Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements

Desirable

  • Aerospace Maintenance - Knowledge of aerospace maintenance concepts, processes (e.g., supply, procurement), and support systems.
  • Specific Equipment Systems - Knowledge of UAS system/hardware (e.g., navigation, sensors, propulsion, Command and Control (C2) data links, etc) maintenance and operation.
  • XML or SGML experience.
