- As directed, implement regional programs and monitor Gas Infrastructure and gas storage systems, safety standards by inspection and assessment of compliance of gas entities and contractors, with technical and safety construction standards in accordance with competencies.
- Conduct installation and commissioning assessments on appliances, components for non-certified gas appliances and manufactured type B appliances to ensure compliance with appropriate gas technical standards. Issue approvals as delegated by the Director of Gas Safety and implement appliance commissioning certifications or issue remedial actions for rectification of non-compliant appliances.
- Undertake design assessments of complex and prescribed standard gas installations, issue approvals as delegated by the Director of Gas Safety, conduct commissioning inspections and audits, and implement remedial action for rectification of non-compliant installations.
- Review detailed hazard assessments and risk assessments on complex industrial sites, gas safety management plans and emergency response systems to ensure acceptable controls to public risk.
- Undertake investigations of gas installation and infrastructure incidents, implement disconnection of unsafe installations or infrastructure by established protocols, recommend and implement equipment testing requirements. Identify breaches of gas safety and occupational licensing legislation and prepare concise investigation reports for the Director of Gas Safety, the Coroner or Department of Public Prosecutions.
- Assist in the analysis of evolving gas safety compliance issues; provide detailed technical and factual reports to enable development of gas safety, operational and technical standards and gas legislative policy for the gas industry, public and consumer safety.
- Undertake development, implementation and delivery of gas safety and technical standard publications, seminars and industry publications to stakeholders, end users, consumers and the public within an evolving industry.
- Appear as expert technical witness in areas of expertise to gas safety appeals.
- Current Tasmanian Drivers Licence.
- Holder of, or demonstrated ability to obtain Occupational Licensing Act 2005 Practitioner's Licence; Gas Certifier - NG and/or LPG
- Holder of, or demonstrated ability to obtain Occupational Licensing Act 2005 Practitioner's Licence; Gas (Certifier) - Type B Standard level.
- Technical Diploma or extensive equivalent industry experience in either, fuel gas combustion, gas transmission or gas distribution, or fuel gas storage systems and infrastructure.
