The reason for this role:

The Installation Engineer is accountable to the Head of Engineering & Technology for the WTG installation Quality Process

This role is responsible for the creation of training documentation for installation, management of special lifting equipment, review of Sub-contractor’s lift-plans as well as the review and update of installation manuals. The role will also arrange for 3rd party inspections at the different installation site across Australia and overseas projects. 

What you will be doing?

  • Interpret engineering drawings, manuals, specifications, bill of quantities, and establish the GWA QA documentation where required (e.g. ITP’s, Installation training, variation and procedure changes to manuals etc.).
  • Review and improve documentation in consultation with others as well as Interpret documentation and develop training materials.
  • Create and implement the site-specific installation QA system to fit for purpose.
  • Coordinate 3rd party inspections and certification of rigging gear, working at heights PPE and manage the individual site registers for Goldwind Australia rigging gear and the sub-contractors.
  • Consult with engineers, other professional and technical workers, and visibly demonstrate compliance with legislation and standards relating to the quality, environment, health and safety requirements of Goldwind Australia and communicate the requirements to Goldwind in China.
  • Assist the Installation and Logistics Manager in the Investigation of crane incidents, accidents and unsafe working conditions around rigging, evaluate possible causes and recommended remedial actions.
  • Assist the Program Management Department in ensuring suitability and implementation improvement of systems and documentation to support the function.
  • Oversee the compliance with rigging and special lifting equipment and review of subcontractor’s lift-plans.
  • Communication and coordination of activities with internal and external stakeholders locally and internationally across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.

What does your background look like?

  • Qualification in Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
  • Strong experience within the heavy lift crane / rigging and transport space including 4 years working within the construction industry. 
  • Experience in quality plan development and management.
  • Training in the following areas would be highly desirable:

      - Quality or Health and Safety Management qualifications

       - Delivery of training to staff or contractors

       - First Aid

       - OHS Construction White Card

       - Working at Heights (External Course)

       - Undertake Vertical Rescue

       - Driver’s License

  • Please note this role can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne.
