Job description

Hey there! đź‘‹

At Optivly, we believe there is more to learning than a lengthy manual and some quizzes. Our mission is to craft engaging and enjoyable experiences to suit the context of the learner. Don’t' believe us? Just ask our mascot Ron!

If this mission sounds like something you can get on board with, then look no further. Optivly is on the lookout for an Instructional Designer with 2-3 years of experience to join our dynamic team. If you’re keen to dive deeper into the world of Instructional Design, this role is tailor-made for you!

Here’s what we’re after:

  • Solid Foundation: Ideally, you’ve got a sound understanding of Instructional Design principles and the core concepts that drive it, with a view to hone this further.
  • Versatility: We design a variety of learning experiences—online self-paced courses, blended delivery, and good ol’ face-to-face sessions. So, experience in designing for different delivery modes would be a huge plus.
  • Tech Savvy: Our toolkit includes everything from 2D and 3D assets, to AR/VR, videos, and HTML5-based tools. If you’re quick to learn and can wield technology to meet our audience’s needs, you’re golden!
  • UX Driven: We are always trying to design with a user focus, considering the journey or user experience of our products, as well as accessibility and visual appeal. Understanding core principles behind these, and how they impact the work will go a long way.
  • Collaboration Champion: We’re all about teamwork. You’ll work closely with our clients and fellow designers to create stellar learning outcomes. Great personal and communication skills are a must.
  • Project Enthusiast: Variety is the spice of life, right? You’ll tackle projects with diverse briefs, collaborating with clients and the team to deliver best-practice design solutions. To compliment this, experience in running projects from Design to Delivery would be the icing on the cake.
  • Self-managed: Given concurrent projects are common for us, having independence, good self, and project organisation skills, and being comfortable with planning and prioritisation would be a powerful weapon to have in your arsenal.

Now, let’s talk perks:

  • Compensation: Expect a package in the ballpark of 70k to 80k (or more, depending on your skills and experience).
  • Flexible Work: Our team works remotely most of the time, but we do pop into the office a couple of days a week to catch up or live vicariously through other people's lunch.
  • New opportunities: Our work spans many industries nationally, and internationally. Optivly is a part of the Response Group International, a group with training, research, and consulting capabilities, we have a range of projects that support both our internal capability and our external clients. This means opportunities to contribute across a variety of areas.

If all of that sounds like your brand of muesli, or perhaps you just feel it in your waters, we'd love to have a chat to you about coming aboard! So slide us your particulars, and if possible, a few examples of some work that you're proud of!
