Parade College provides excellence in the education of young performers in Music.
We are seeking to employ an inspiring and experienced teacher of Drumkit / Percussion for fixed term part-time (two days per week) contract, with the potential for an increase in teaching allotment to teach individual lessons on drumkit and direct the college drumline at secondary school level.
Working within the Parade College Music Department, the Drumkit / Percussion instructor will be part of a team of instrumental specialists, providing instruction across a broad range of styles.
The successful applicant will:
Hold a music education or tertiary music degree
Have current VIT registration or a WWCC
Be a dynamic music educator and an outstanding musician with a proven record of excellence in teaching and performance skills gained through training or experience
Have a dynamic manner with the ability to relate well to students of all abilities and to communicate effectively with parents and staff
Have excellent organisational skills, including appropriate record keeping and assessment, organise materials to facilitate motivation, enjoyment and learning for each student
Be familiar with VCE, AMEB and ANZCA syllabus requirements and teach across a range of styles
Prepare for and teach individual lessons within the school
Monitor, record, and report verbally, in written form and using technology on the continuous progress of each student
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, student performance and progress
Participate in rehearsals, concerts, and Music events
Complete other duties as directed by the college and music calendar
Ensemble direction, ability to teach percussion and conducting skills would be an advantage.
