Job description

  • Integration Enterprise Architect this role sits in UNSW IT, daily rate contract role
  • Kensington based, Hybrid working environment

UNSW IT is part of UNSW’s Finance and Operations Division and provides reliable, cost effective and state of the art IT services. The Division was established in recent years to provide corporate services in support of the Faculties and Divisions. As part of this change the UNSW IT team continues to evolve as it works toward its ambition of being a world class technology delivery and support team enabling the University with world class solutions and capabilities. UNSW IT is guided by the UNSW Technology Strategy which has identified key strategic goals and capabilities for UNSW technology.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:

The role of an Integration Enterprise Architect requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, communication skills, and a deep understanding of both business and IT landscapes to create and maintain effective integration solutions that support’s UNSW’s objectives. An Integration Enterprise Architect plays a crucial role in designing and implementing complex integration solutions within UNSW.

Candidate applicants must be able to demonstrate expertise and experience in these responsibilities to be suitable for this role and include:

  • Must have mature expertise in developing integration strategies and designing E2E architectures that facilitate the seamless connection of various systems, applications, and technologies within enterprise environments including multi-cloud environments (eg AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud environments (SaaS, PaaS with On Prem/ environments)
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience in defining integration standards, best practices, and governance frameworks to ensure consistency, compliance, and efficient management of integration solutions and patterns across an enterprise.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and managing integration solutions across multicloud and hybrid cloud environments. Understand the nuances of integrating applications and services across different cloud providers and leverage best practices for security, scalability, and performance in multi-cloud scenarios.  
  • Demonstrated understanding of modern integration patterns, such as event-driven architectures, serverless computing, and API gateways.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and managing microservices-based integration solutions.
  • Background in establishing and maintaining an API register,  control of lifecycle, documenting all APIs and interfaces, Define guidelines for API naming conventions and versioning, and documentation. Collaborate with development teams to ensure APIs are well-documented and accessible.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders and translate requirements. Ability to communicate and influence senior stakeholders to seek buy in in the integration target state and roadmap.
  • Assessing and selecting appropriate integration technologies, platforms, and tools to support the integration architecture and contributing to IT governance processes and decision-making.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices related to contemporary integration styles.
  • Identifying potential risks and security threats related to integration processes and implementing measures to mitigate these risks, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or equivalent service experience providing architecture and consulting.
  • Extensive Data and Integration architecture experience.
  • Desirable - other corporate / higher education architecture experience
  • Ability to engage effectively with business and IT stakeholders, understand demand for technology services, distil complex business issues into easily understood messages and successfully communicate opportunities for greater business efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to structure and articulate messages to different audiences at all levels.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and design, creating and maintaining blueprints, reference models, and lifecycle models for technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing technical governance in a complex environment
  • Recognised as a subject matter expert, able to give specialist advice to others and with experience of driving technology change.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
