Future Generation Joint Venture (FGJV) is the principal contractor for Snowy Hydro's Snowy 2.0, Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. We bring the combined engineering expertise of three companies - Italy's Webuild (formerly Salini Impregilo), Australian-based Clough and US-based Lane Construction.

Purpose of the Role:

The Internal Communications Officer is a newly created role to assist with communications and engagement activities across Snowy 2.0 project sites. The Internal Communications Officer is part of Future Generation's Community & Stakeholder Engagement team and will focus on supporting and delivering Internal Communications objectives across multiple work fronts. The role will lead communications with the frontline workforce (including subcontractors) to ‘connect' with Future Generation's Values, Vision and Mission.

The Community & Stakeholder team has a wide range of responsibilities and support functions for the Project team. The dedicated Internal Communications Officer based on site will be embedded in the Project site team and participate in onsite activities and help coordinate events that support Area Managers and recreational activities in Camps. The Internal Communications Officer will move between work fronts at each site and across different worksites during their 14/7 roster. They will have a visible and active role at daily prestart meetings and recreational activities, such as supporting BBQs and Awards, fundraising activities, etc. They will also help coordinate special events on site for crews to celebrate significant milestones and ensuring communications reach frontline workers.

The Internal Communications Officer will help connect separate worksites and directly engage our expanding blue-collar workforce. In addition to using targeted and innovative methods to communicate with workers, the role will also maintain regular direct face-to-face contact with workers and management. This role will help rollout and promote centrally-coordinated initiatives to communicate with our project workforce. The person will also initiate activities and source / create content for a range of communication material (eg. newsletter, intranet content, on site photography & videography, social activities, identifying media opportunities).

Qualifications:

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications within a relevant field (Communications, Public Relations, Marketing) - preferred
  • White Card

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience (Minimum of 5 years) in a corporate marketing and communications role or project community engagement role;
  • Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works - preferred
  • High knowledge of Microsoft Suite and other presentation-based software
  • A sound understanding of infrastructure construction projects - preferred
  • Experiences in regulatory liaison and consultation
  • Experience using community relations database
  • Competent in preparing reports to demonstrate evidence and compliance

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Support delivery of head office and onsite communication initiatives to ensure the workforce is well informed, engaged and living our values
  • Identify and deliver content that highlights our project achievements and its workforce for newsletters, media opportunities and other various media channels.
  • Support internal communication events such as quarterly updates, onsite events and ad hoc support for the onsite construction team in line with communication objectives.
  • As required support the administration of and attend Community Groups, online Community engagement relations activities and maximise stakeholder relationships;
  • Support development and innovative new methods to deliver information to entire project team, including frontline workforce and subcontractors;
  • Attend Prestart meetings and provide Community and internal comms updates as required; Produce content for white collar and blue collar workforce and subcontractors (eg. Toolbox Talks, project updates, pre-starts, videos, posters, presentations, intranet, digital media, newsletters, etc);
  • Administration and content for the project's Intranet portal;
  • Develop and maintain a calendar of events and activities for event planning and participation;
  • Undertake research activities where required;
  • Understanding stakeholder and community issues and ensuring the project team is aware;
  • Identifying and developing strong relationships with key internal influencers
  • Maintaining the consultation database and ad hoc administration support to community & communications team;
  • Production of project Fact Sheets, work notices, brochures, presentations, etc
  • Support delivery of social media strategy
  • Consult with local stakeholders and local communities as required;
  • Prepare, implement and monitor community involvement plans and communications as required;
  • Participate in the roster for the 1800 Community Infoline - and available at all times for contact by stakeholders and the community to answer questions and deal with complaints relating to the Snowy 2.0 project;
  • Be available at all times for contact by workforce to answer questions and support initiatives relating to Internal Communications;
  • Manage various email inboxes for Community team
  • Available to take a proactive role in the stakeholder and community relations processes relating to the Snowy 2.0 project.
