What you'll be doing:

A great permanent full time opportunity is now available for a Public Relations Professional to join the Media & Communications Team as an Internal Communications Officer. This exciting role will see you deliver creative and targeted Internal Communications which inform and engage the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District's (NBMLHD) 7,000 staff and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Within this role you will develop and implement communications strategies that support the NBMLHD strategic plan and priorities and partner with internal and other stakeholders to develop and implement timely and effective internal communication plans to support change management. This position will have you review outcomes of Internal Communications strategies and initiatives and provide advice on improvements and assist with communication policy development and recommend best practice solutions to connect the NBMLHD Executive and senior managers with staff.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.


Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. Relevant qualifications in Communications or Journalism and/or at least five years professional experience in marketing, communications, or public affairs, preferably in a large, diverse service industry organisation
  2. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and gain the commitment of others to improve staff relations and to promote a positive reputation for a large organisation
  3. Superior written communication skills and the ability to translate complex information into simple messages and write for a range of formats, channels and audiences
  4. High level interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to develop effective partnerships with managers and staff to enhance and develop engagement to support a positive workplace culture in a large and diverse organisation
  5. Proven ability to coordinate major communication activities and events to build awareness among staff, improve brand recognition and promote an organisation’s goals and values
  6. Excellent time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under conflicting and tight deadlines while maintaining a high degree of quality and creativity
  7. Experience designing strategic communications to support business objectives and change management in a large organisation
  8. Proficiency using Microsoft Office 365, and experience using Adobe Creative Suite is highly desirable
