Job description

About the National Art School

The National Art School (NAS) is at the forefront of visual arts practice utilising our distinctive studio-based teaching model to deliver exceptional higher education, research, scholarship and professional practice.

NAS is an independent art school committed to training the next generation of artists. We are focussed solely on the visual arts and the future of arts practice, offering the full range of tertiary degrees: Bachelor of Fine Art, Master of Fine Art and Doctor of Fine Art. Teaching across ceramics, drawing, painting, photomedia, printmaking and sculpture, our lecturers are experienced and award-winning artists with a deep knowledge of their disciplines and the arts industry, and our Art History &Theory faculty are PhD scholars at the top of their fields.

We are a State Significant Organisation (SSO) in NSW with a dedication to become the leading art school in the Asia Pacific.

The position

The International Residencies Coordinator (IRC) ensures effective delivery of the NAS International Residency programs. Key responsibilities include establishing the Prudence Macleod Prize, a 6-month residency at Acme Studios in London starting January 2025. The IRC administers all aspects of residency programs: promotion, queries, liaison with partners, and serving as the main contact for applicants and residents from selection to post-residency processes. The role is project-based, requiring flexibility to work more hours pre-residency for marketing, application administration, and resident support. During the residency, fewer hours are needed, but availability for inquiries and emergencies remains. Post-residency, hours increase for travel arrangements, partner communications, and residency acquittal.

What you bring to the role

You will bring demonstrated experience in program coordination or administration, within an arts or higher education outreach context. You will have high level organisational, problem solving and time management skills with the ability to complete tasks within deadlines. You will have the ability to work independently and also collaboratively with others to achieve shared goals.
