About the Role 
An exciting opportunity has opened at Swinburne University for an experienced professional as an International Student Adviser within the International Student Advisory & Support (ISA&S) team.

The ISA&S team ensures that Swinburne meets its legislative welfare, safety, and support obligations under the ESOS Act, 2007, The National Code of Practice, the Migration Act, and other State and National laws and standards in force at any time.

In this role you will provide support services to International Students studying Swinburne’s programs in Australia as well as providing operational input to the development and implementation of pro-active activities and events to ensure the most appropriate support for International Students throughout their lifecycle with Swinburne.

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the expectations supporting International Students under the ESOS Act 2000 and The National Code of Practice 2018. Particularly how this relates to the support of students Under 18 years of age including application of  Victorian Child Safe Standards
  • Highly developed negotiation skills and demonstrated problem-solving skills to manage student/client expectations and concurrent priorities, particularly within a regulated environment
  • Experience in supporting International Students with a strong customer-service focus, demonstrated cultural sensitivity and strong understanding of cross-cultural communication.  
  • Experience in the development, coordination, and promotion of a range of student focused activities and events, particularly confidently presenting information to groups.

Qualifications
A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
