Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Inventory Controller is responsible for the control, coordination and purchasing of parts, materials, and equipment for the maintenance operation in an organised, cost effective and timely manner.
You will play a key role in the Commercial Team for a leading infrastructure maintenance contract by ensuring a consistent approach to the material management process across the operation including stores design/layout, housekeeping, and the handling of spares, materials, and tools.
This position is a full-time permanent opportunity, with flexible working options possible.
What you'll be doing
- Oversee all aspects of our Inventory Management Process, including a small team of two storepersons
- Ensure complete accuracy and accountability for all materials, equipment, and assets at all times through the effective and efficient use of the Stores and Maintenance Management System (SAP, CLICK, Maximo)
- Ensure inventory records are accurate and kept up to date and all stock holdings are kept at optimal levels and Inventory Safety Levels are checked regularly
- Schedule and prioritise goods receiving from local and overseas suppliers for all deliveries, reporting and communicating damages, short shipments and oversupply
- Ensure the storage, packaging and transportation of goods is compliant to all legislation and without risk to the company
- Ensure all parts are issued and allocated to work orders in a timely manner at all times
- Generation of Daily Pick Lists for storeperson
- Accountable for Stock takes, and taking a lead role with stock taking, cyclic counts and report status for all inventory, tools, equipment
- Unload, physically and electronically receive, store (put away) stock and non-stock materials in a safe, timely manner in the correctly allocated locations
- Ensure all safety data sheets (SDS) are kept current and up to date
- Set the example in safety leadership and expectations with a proactive, zero harm, and team-centered approach to safety
You will have Project procurement experience or worked within a similar role ideally in the Construction or Maintenance industry.
You will also possess:
- Diploma or similar is not essential but may be highly regarded
- Knowledge and experience in Supplier and Subcontractor Agreements
- Detailed knowledge and experience using SAP/ARIBA(or similar) for purchasing
- Possess computer skills particularly in MS Office Software
- Experienced in the use of Warehouse Management and Inventory Management Principles and Systems
- Hold or be willing to acquire appropriate licenses for materials handling equipment such as forklift and overhead gantry crane (but not limited to these)
- Detailed knowledge of industry best practice and legislation relevant to storage, handling and transportation of goods
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, determine priorities and organise work to meet objectives and identify and deal with problems
