• Provide strategic and operational direction, support and expert advice to team members in accordance with procedures, objectives and performance standards adopted by OIR, to ensure investigations meet requisite standards of quality, timeliness and efficiency and that investigative conduct is of the highest integrity.
• Provide expert advice to the Director, Statewide Investigations, the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor, Office of the WHS Prosecutor and other key stakeholders on contemporary and emerging investigation and enforcement matters.
• Take a leading role in building relationships, sharing information and promoting cooperation across all government agencies to ensure interagency operations run optimally and are in accordance with agreed service levels or memorandums of understanding.
• Represent WHSQ and give evidence on workplace health and safety matters heard before an Industrial Magistrate, the Industrial Court, Tribunal or Coroner.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships and strategic networks with key internal and external stakeholders, client groups, duty holders and industry leaders to share information, identify on-going and emerging and issues and trends, and provide high level advice to the Director, Statewide Investigations.
• Implement OIR policies and procedures with respect to human resource management, in particular, performance planning and review, injury prevention and management, workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and the promotion of a discrimination free workplace culture that values equity and diversity.
• Stimulate innovation and team learning by mentoring and coaching inspectors and investigators, taking an active role in the development and delivery of investigations training, and becoming personally involved in the more complex, protracted or potentially contentious investigations.
• Model professional and ethical behaviour and act in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and the Code of Conduct.
• Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the team(s) over which you have responsibility. This includes ensuring you and your team members are aware of and observing their responsibilities and obligations including under relevant OIR HSW policies and procedures.
