Our Engineering team develops circuit boards, firmware, telemetry, websites, and apps, while manufacturing, production, and logistics ensure successful implementation across Australia. A new laboratory is being built for customized soil formulations.
We are seeking an IoT Product Design Engineer for our Townsville facility, emphasizing teamwork, collaboration, and growth under the Technical Manager's guidance.
DIT AgTech thrives on solutions and seeks dynamic individuals who enjoy designing, building, troubleshooting, and driving real-world change—not just collecting a wage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in our R&D team to specify and design new products, maintain existing designs
- Develop firmware for embedded microcontrollers in custom hardware
- Use satellite and terrestrial telemetry to efficiently get information to our database
- Work with our manufacturing team to improve designs and processes
- Report to and be guided by the Technical Manager
Skills and Experience (essential):
- 2 years professional or 5 years hobby experience with microcontrollers, C/C++, Python
- Experience using sleep and low power modes, interrupts, fuse bits, various communication protocols, on-chip and external peripherals, hardware timers, datasheets
- Familiarity with electronic circuits, ideally experience with Altium/Eagle/KiCAD/Similar
- Soldering and SMD Hot Air Rework
Skills and Experience (advantageous):
- A rural background – to understand our customers’ unique constraints and requirements
- Making things yourself – experience with tools, drawings, datasheets, DFM
- Experience with IoT, satellite and terrestrial telemetry
- Swarm/Myriota/Astrocast/similar, NB-IoT/3G/4G communication, LoRaWAN
- Secure communication, bandwith constraints, efficient message structures
- Innovation and creativity – to explore new ideas, methods, products
- Technical Writing – to writeup assembly instructions, developer notes
