As an engineer, you will take advantage of this exciting opportunity as a permanent position for an Isolated Networks Engineer.

About your new role:
As the Isolated Networks Engineer, you will develop capital plans for isolated system assets, including renewable energy, power stations, and distribution networks.
You will apply your specialist knowledge and experience to investigate, evaluate, scope, and develop business cases to approve and initiate projects to meet annual budgets and work plans. You will also provide engineering advice to various stakeholders, contribute to achieving the team's strategic objectives, and develop the capability of less experienced engineers and other employees through supervision, coaching, and mentoring where required.
You will collaborate effectively, manage information and confidentiality requirements across Energy Queensland Limited under applicable ring-fencing parameters, demonstrate a personal commitment to health, safety, and environment, and support a diverse and inclusive workplace. Compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and practices is essential.
The position has been evaluated as a Professional & Managerial Grade Two (PM2). The remuneration for your new role is from $140,751** plus 12.75% super for a 9-day fortnight and from $159,048** plus 12.75% super for a 10-day fortnight. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.
**This figure includes the 8.63% consumer price index (CPI) increase, in effect as part of the current enterprise agreements from the last pay period of February 2024.

About you:
You will be responsible for undertaking technical research of alternative technologies and fuels, funding applications, and developing business cases for allocated projects for isolated communities.
You will investigate new technologies and alternative energy sources and review existing systems, undertaking detailed calculations, research and analysis of the integration of renewable technologies and fuels in Energy Queensland's isolated communities.
Additionally, you will undertake investigations, technical modelling and financial comparison of viable options, comparing traditional diesel generation and distribution solutions with diesel/renewable hybrid solutions.
You will be responsible for program delivery, engineering concept design and pre-concept phase project management. You will provide experienced engineering and technical advice on using traditional, alternate and renewable technologies and fuels in isolated electricity generation and supply to various stakeholders.
You will work with teams potentially located in different geographical areas, applying local area and field of expertise knowledge as required, and provide broad guidance in local regions to employees across Engineering Division.
