Nyamba Buru Yawuru (NBY) means ‘This is the place of Yawuru’. NBY is the operational company of the Yawuru Native Title Holders Aboriginal Corporation. NBY manages the day-to-day business of Yawuru and is engaged in a diverse range of projects which help to provide social, cultural, environmental and financial sustainability for the future of Yawuru people.
ABOUT THE KIMBERLEY INDIGENOUS SALTWATER ADVISORY GROUP (ISWAG)
The Kimberley Indigenous Saltwater Advisory Group (ISWAG) was established by nine Kimberley saltwater groups for knowledge sharing between Traditional Owners and to enable collaborative two-way information exchange and capacity building between Traditional Owner groups, Western Scientists and agencies. ISWAG will deliver Indigenous engagement and capacity building by supporting the Kimberley saltwater groups in the management of their sea country.
JOB SUMMARY
The ISWAG Coordinator facilitates the execution of the ISWAG strategic plan by orchestrating activities within the ISWAG Regional Network and bolstering engagement with members and partners involved in Kimberley's marine resource management. If successful in the application, you will:
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate the delivery of objectives as outlined in the ISWAG strategic plan;
• Support the ISWAG Regional Network in implementing the ISWAG strategic plan;
• Engage with various partners and stakeholders to encourage further investment in ISWAG initiatives;
• Coordinate and facilitate interaction between ISWAG Regional Network members and partners;
• Facilitate partner alignment with the Turtle & Dugong Initiative science priorities;
• Plan and host regional forums including members and partners (government, research institutions, and philanthropic organisations);
• Facilitate opportunities for ISWAG to initiate and collaborate in scientific research programs and support 'two-way' science learning through coordination with academic and other partners;
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
• Tertiary qualification in ecology, natural resource management, environmental science, project management, or equivalent experience in cultural natural resource management;
• Experience in working with Traditional Owners & PBCs in cultural natural resource management;
• Understanding of Indigenous cultures, protocols and issues in relation to caring for country;
• Demonstrated experience or understanding of two-way science research models;
• Experience working with scientific and/or educational institutions in research partnerships;
• Experience in large event coordination;
• Oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills at engaging effectively with a diverse range of audiences;
• Demonstrated experience in project management and budgeting;
• Demonstrated experience in applying for large grants and submitting written and financial reports
