About Us:

Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for close to 30 years. The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.

Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Officer to join our dynamic team. The IT Officer will be responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer systems and networks across all departments. This role requires a strong understanding of IT infrastructure, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a customer-oriented approach. This includes:

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, ensuring efficient system usage.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Monitor system performance, identify potential risks, and implement necessary security measures.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure smooth operation of IT systems.
  • Conduct regular data backups and implement disaster recovery plans.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency.
  • Assist in the procurement of IT equipment and software, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Train staff on IT procedures and best practices to promote a technology-driven work environment.

About You:

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with people from diverse backgrounds including internal and external stakeholders and community members. You a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in peoples’ lives especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community with the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an IT Officer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Familiarity with network security protocols and data backup procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Certifications in relevant IT fields (e.g., CompTIA A+, CCNA) are preferred.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing technology trends and business needs.

Practical Requirements:

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
