About the role
Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Project Manager will provide project management service for several internal IT projects at Southern Ports Authority (SPA). The role requires strong organisational skills and excellent communication abilities to engage with end-users, port stakeholders and external contractors across the organisation. The IT Project Manager will oversee all aspects of project delivery by managing budget, scope and schedule whilst maintaining a high level of key stakeholder engagement and guide relevant projects through project delivery.
In addition, the IT Project Manager will have great focus on teamwork, communication, safety and ensure that the company’s technology systems are governed, maintained and functional.
This role can be offered as a 6 month contract, or as a permanent 2-year fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead concurrent IT projects.
  • Preparation of project documentation.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to define business requirements, performance expectations and service levels
  • Maintain project schedule and communicate out milestones on a regular basis.
  • Track decisions and blueprint changes in a dedicated decisions register.
  • Raise project risks and issues.
  • Track and coordinate mitigation plans.
  • Support and Approve training plan development and actions required.
  • Work with external vendors and internal business functions to develop implementation plans to suit the specific needs of each function.
  • Ensure prioritisation criteria are applied and agreed with the IT Manager so that the most critical activities are completed first, in a professional manner.
  • Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders and suppliers as required.
  • Manage vendor escalations and relationships when required.
  • Other duties as reasonably requested to achieve the wider objectives of IT in Southern Ports.

Experience and Requirements
  • Relevant project management qualifications.
  • Three to five years of project management experience.
  • Project Planning and Project Organisation.
  • IT systems knowledge and experience.
  • Certified or experienced with ITIL 4 is essential, ITIL 3 is considered.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak to technical-level staff and summarize communications for executive consumption.
  • Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated track record.
  • Ability to analyse, understand and effectively communicate between business requirements and technical design and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of applications being implemented.
  • Problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills to influence management as well as internal and external partners.
  • Works well with others in an integrated team environment.
  • Self-motivated and a problem solver.
  • Ability to travel by air and road as well as possession of a valid and unrestricted C Class driver's license.

Requirements
To be eligible for this 2-year fixed term full-time role, applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
The successful applicant must have a current WA driver’s licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
