How will I Help?This is a good opportunity for a permanent role with Qvalent which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Westpac Banking Corporation. Qvalent provide web-based software and support services that enable organisations operating in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to streamline financial business processes.As a
Software Developer/engineer, your role is to produce industry leading code to contribute to Qvalent applications and services. You will be responsible for writing code, performing code reviews, testing issues, identifying and diagnosing technical problems, and providing timely solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.This role is technically based. Reporting to the Development Manager in Qvalent you will work closely with various Development, Support, Implementation and Operations staff in Qvalent to ensure Products are delivered to a high standard and customer issues are resolved.The role is Newcastle based, please only apply if you can attend the office at this location.
Key Accountabilities- Performing secure coding practices at all times to develop and enhance Qvalent products while adhering to our risk accountabilities.
- Engage in code reviews and testing processes in a courteous and professional manner.
- Testing and debugging software applications.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities.
- Identify and diagnose technical problems, troubleshoot, and provide product solutions.
- Create and maintain detailed records of software development tasks during the entire process.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior technical support staff or other internal teams when necessary.
- Become knowledgeable in Qvalent applications and keep up-to-date with the latest features and enhancements in order to produce the best possible customer solutions.

What do I need?To be successful you will have the following:
- 3+ years of experience in software development, or a related field. Strong problem-solving background.
- Previous experience working as a Java software engineer, architect or developer.
- Experience working with the Spring Framework is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in using development software, and basic computer applications.
- Working experience with Atlassian products, Jira, Confluence, etc.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple development requests simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to document technical issues and solutions accurately.
