The Australian Bureau of Statistics is looking to fill a temporary APS6 Junior Business Analyst, Census Digital Service role for initially twelve months with the possibility of a 6month extension. The successful applicant will work out of our offices located in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
About the role and area
We are looking fill the role of a Junior Business Analyst/project officer within the Census Digital Service (CDS) team in the Census 2026 Branch to support the enhancement program of the Census online form. Responsibilities include:
- Gathering business requirements to support the development of the Census Digital Service.
- Strong collaboration and with business and IT teams.
- Working with IT to ensure that business requirements are implemented.
- Lead and participate in system business acceptance testing.
The Census of Population and Housing provides a snapshot of Australia. It shows how our nation changes over time, helps estimate our population and informs critical decisions that guide our future. The next Census will take place in 2026.
The Census Digital Service (CDS) team, an integral part of the 2026 Census Program, works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a successful and contemporary digital Census experience for Australian households in 2026.
What we are looking for
To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience:
- Demonstrated experience operating in a Project Officer or Business Analyst capacity to gather business requirements.
- Experience in guiding and steering meetings to achieve desired outcomes.
- Previous experience in working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Previous experience working in complex enterprise environments with a digital focus.
