The primary purpose of this role is to identify trends and areas for improvement in service, sales, productivity and profit performance. To take a leadership role in ensuring the region develops through improved store, sales, and staff performance.
About the role
This position reports into the Category Buying Manager and will have 2 direct reports;
- Remains up to date on current upcoming international trends: look; feel; styling; fabrics undertaking research via appropriate sources e.g. Internet, magazines, overseas buying trips, domestic retail analysis, wholesale and store sales results.
- Supports the wider Buying team in the development of categories, seasonal ranges and ‘buy now, wear now’ fashion capsules that meet the market trends
- Assists the wider Buying team in developing categories by understanding the analysis of, Trend forecasting, Ranging, Colour palettes, Prints, Styling
- Manages the initiation, sign off and follow though of all PO’s to ensure they are raised in a timely manner, with accurate information, are signed off appropriately and delivery deadlines are met
- Reviews seasonal analysis for all categories to ensure effective support when range planning. This includes: Manage retails within market position and competitor knowledge; Stock levels maximisation; Product sell through; Range width; Sales units and dollars; GP $ and %; Bottom and top sellers; Category planner buying
- Collate and present all local and overseas trends of Competitors on a weekly basis
- Previous experience in a Junior Buyer position
- Previous product development experience
- Strong leadership skills
- Good judgement and decision-making skills
- Confidence in calculated risks
- Passionate about product, strong market and brand awareness
- Time keeping & ability to meet stringent deadlines
- Results oriented and customer focused
- Driven and self motivated with a proactive and positive attitude
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Understanding of the cost elements involved in manufacturing
