Your next exciting job opportunity:
BMT are recruiting a Junior Coastal Engineer based in Melbourne who will be responsible for professionally and efficiently undertaking Coastal Engineering tasks of limited scope and complexity under the guidance of more experienced staff. The role has a strong project orientation and contributes to the team in which it operates.
In this role you will be able to:
- Work as part of a cohesive team to deliver various Coastal Engineering services to a wide range of clients, including government and private sectors, such as:
- coastal climate change adaptation planning
- marine and metocean studies
- coastal protection structures design,
- planning and design of large-scale marine and coastal infrastructure for the offshore wind, ports, resources, and aquaculture sectors
- Site visits to coastal locations around south-eastern Australia
- Participate in stakeholder and community consultation around the climate change adaptation and the energy transition.
- Work under the direction of senior engineers to undertake modelling and analysis of coastal processes, prepare maps and reports.
- Work under the direction of senior engineers to undertake condition inspections of coastal protection structures and prepare reports.
- Assist with analysis of marine operations in the ports and offshore wind sectors.
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of Engineering (civil, structural, environmental ocean) or science (such as: marine science, geomorphology, oceanography).
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in coastal or marine related field.
- Understanding of coastal processes and coastal hazards.
- Passion for technical excellence and solving complex problems in the marine and coastal environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment and autonomously.
- Highly motivated and proactive.
- Right to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis.
- Experience working within a consulting environment.
- Knowledge of the Victorian coastal geography, environment, and management.
- Experience with coastal and marine activities such as: boating, surfing, fishing, and diving.
