Our client is an Engineering Consultancy based in Melbourne with offices in the Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Brisbane amongst others who specialises in civil, water, structural, coastal, ports and maritime projects. They are looking for an experienced Coastal Engineer to join their growing team. Ideally you will have experience in the analysis and/or design of coastal infrastructure. You will contribute to a variety of projects including international projects and major Australian transport projects as well as smaller community projects for government authorities and contractors. Projects are across civil, water, structural, coastal, ports and maritime, utilities and temporary works projects as well as providing asset advisory and project delivery services. Examples of studies could be around sea level rise, coastal adaptation, design of coastal Defence and structures, seawalls etc. as well as modeling coastal waves impact on the coastline, climate change work etc with stakeholder involvement and interaction. Your typical day will include managing project deliverables, liaising with stakeholders, report writing, coastal process data analysis and modelling, infrastructure design and condition assessment of existing infrastructure. Their head office is based in Melbourne with opportunities to work in their Sunshine Coast, Sydney or Brisbane offices as well or work remotely. Other locations will be consider for the right candidate. Qualifications and Requirements: Tertiary Qualifications in Coastal Engineering but will also consider Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or similar field Minimum 2-5+ years’ experience in a similar role Primary skills in wave theory, coastal processes and coastal modelling but can also contribute to other projects outside this core area. Strong interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Motivated and proactive Knowledge of international codes such as USACE CEM and the Rock Manual is preferred Previous experience in the design of coastal infrastructure and/or structures such as nourishment, revetments and groynes is highly favourable Knowledge of how to translate coastal data including numerical models Delivery experience of coastal infrastructure projects This is a permanent full-time position providing a great opportunity to work with a successful and growing organisation who offer challenging work and the potential for career progression.
