Junior Data Engineer

Summary of the Position

BizCubed is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Junior Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team.

You will be on the front-line of delivering our cutting-edge Data Engineering platform. You will work with our customers every day, helping them achieve best-in-class analytics solutions.

As part of our unique Data Engineering team approach, you will gain a variety of experiences across our customers and areas of the business.  Customer service, product development, data pipeline design, enablement and leadership opportunities are a sample of the different activities you will undertake.

This role expects you to be passionate about Data Engineering while delighting our customers and will require you to think logically and creatively to ensure we deliver best in class service within the scope of our customers’ services.

Internally, you will improve our ways of working by identifying pain points and automating the repeatable.

As you will be at the cutting edge of analytics technologies and capabilities, on-the-job training and learning while you work are a key aspect of your day in order to deliver for your customers.

Your customers are some of the most recognised companies in Australia and you will be helping them to use data to make better decisions each day.  The role will combine your technical and customer engagement skills to supply superior value to our customers.

Key Responsibilities 

Customer Delight 

• Delight customers through an exceptional customer experience
• Keep our customer’s operational environments ‘clean and green’
• Triage and resolve operational issues to exceed our SLAs and deliver ‘green queues’ in JIRA, our ticket management system
• Run processes consistently, in accordance with BizCubed Standards
• Regularly participate in the Out-Of-Hours (OOH) scheduled rotations

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Note: We acknowledge that quality candidates may not  have all of the required skills and have tried to prioritise accordingly. Please apply if you think you meet at least ~80% of the qualifications listed below.

Required

• Previous experience with Data Engineering / etl tools
• UNIX commands proficiency
• Understanding of cloud, internet, network technologies (AWS/Azure/Google/Etc)
• Understanding of using queries, databases, extraction/transformation/loading
• Coding experience (preferably java, javascript or python)

Desirable

• Business Analytics Skills
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle process for tools such as git, bitbucket, etc
• Previous experience with Apache data projects (Hop, Airflow, Parquet, Spark, Flink, Beam, Delta Lake, Arrow, Superset)
• Previous experience with a technical service desk
• Previous experience with service management tools (Jira, ServiceNow, ConnectWise, Etc)
• Understanding of how data flows between Data Engineering, visualisation and insights
• Comfortable with Mac and Windows OS workstations
• Experience with BI Tools
• Pentaho experience
